My Oschner
Overview
The Ochsner-branded mobile app (My Ochsner) provides all of the functionality of the standard Epic MyChart app, with additional enhancements.
Epic develops the app itself, but through the use of web views within the app, additional features will be included beyond those provided by MyChart. A mobile-only microsite that will load into a web view in the app. The app will open this site shortly after the initial loading splash screen. The website will include a link to the app’s login form, allowing users to authenticate into MyChart and access the native functionality available within the app.
This microsite will only be used by the MyOchsner app and will not be available as a standalone site and only needs to support a mobile layout. The same mobile layout will also be used when viewed on a tablet.
The microsite adds several dynamic features to the app, providing the advantage of quick updates without requiring a full app rebuild. Among the most frequently used features are the campus maps and the chatbot assistant.
Technology Stack
The website is built using the Craft CMS platform. It is hosted on Ochsner’s existing infrastructure, which includes separate staging and production environments.
Craft CMS
Craft CMS is highly flexible and configurable, both at the data modeling and design implementation layers. Because Ochsner already has internal expertise with Craft CMS, along with hosting infrastructure to support it, Craft CMS is the natural choice for building the website that will be loaded within the MyOchsner mobile app.
Components and templates within Craft CMS will be styled using Tailwind CSS for consistency and performance.
